Opera Philadelphia’s Innovative Festival O19 Returns September 18-29

Philadelphia’s Festival O19 is back for another year of innovative performances with 12 days of classic and edgy opera.

Opera Philadelphia’s annual event brings two world premieres, contemporary stagings, emerging performers and late-night cabarets at locations in Center City and beyond, September 18-29.

Organized by Opera Philadelphia, the festival has drawn attention from across the world for its fresh take on the venerable art form. Festival O19 offers two world premieres, as well as modern takes on Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges and Handel’s Semele.

Opera Philadelphia has also partnered with the Fringe Festival (September 5-22) on some of this year’s performances. Let Me Die is Joseph Keckler’s world premiere production that combines tragic opera death scenes with original narratives and music. And The Bearded Ladies host a series of late-night revues led by cabaret stars, opera singers, art clowns and other performers.

Tickets & Tips

Show descriptions and tickets are available on Opera Philadelphia’s website and in an illustrated print guide available at select venues around the city.

Performances range from $20 to $299, and some are expected to sell out quickly.

Discounted tickets for select performances are available for those 35 and younger, and 45 and younger. Students can purchase seats for as little as $10 beginning two hours before curtain for performances of The Love for Three Oranges.

Additional discounts are available by purchasing tickets to two or more shows, getting a three-show Festival Pass or ordering tickets for a group of 10 or more. Call 215-732-8400 for more information.
